Kevin Miller was appointed Executive Director of the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission (RSC) by Governor John R. Kasich in January of 2011. Director Miller brings more than 20 years of state government leadership experience to his position at RSC.
Since his appointment, RSC has witnessed many changes in operations as Director Miller employed a business model to operations. Focusing on individuals with disabilities as his paramount goal, operations were streamlined to ensure that resources reached those in need of assistance rather than absorbed in administrative costs.
Under Director Miller’s leadership, RSC has implemented a statewide fee schedule for vocational rehabilitation services and the agency has concentrated efforts to eliminate the wait list of individuals with disabilities. The agency also implemented a DisAbility Jobs Summit to bring business leaders, individuals with disabilities and political leaders together to discuss reducing barriers to employment for those with a disability.
Director Miller started his career at the Ohio Department of Youth Services in 1993, rising to become the Chief of Staff. Before his appointment at RSC, Miller was Executive Director of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology. Director Miller is a member of the National Autism Society, Autism Speaks, the Shamrock Club of Columbus, the Association of Ohio Commodores and is the president of the Mark J. Youngpeter Memorial Scholarship Fund. Miller is a former member of the West Jefferson City Council.
Director Miller has a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Dominican University and a Master’s degree from The Ohio State University.
